Kids at Christ Church United, UCC
Our one-room Sunday School class welcomes kids in 1st – 7th grade, (known as the “Sunbeams”).
Most Sundays the kids start off in the main worship space at 10 AM with their families and leave for Sunday School, about 15 minutes into the service.
We live into important Bible stories, share how God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are with us today, ask questions, pray together and play together.
We do this with the help of a multi-age curriculum produced by Sparkhouse complete with art, drama, crafts. We always end by blessing each other and the reminder that “God loves you.”
We have dedicated paid staff who run our class, with assistance from volunteers who are part of the church.
All church staff and volunteers who help with children and youth have been CORIed; we always have two teachers with the Sunday School children, at least one of whom is 21 or older.
Once a month, usually on the 4th Sunday of the month we have an intergenerational worship service where all ages worship together.
And on Communion Sundays (1st Sunday of the month) the kids go straight to their Sunday School class at 10 AM and then join the rest of the church for Communion, which is the final part of the service. Children are absolutely welcome to receive the bread and wine (grape juice) if their families would like them to do so.
If there’s anything else you would like to know, please email Rev. Ruth Richards.
Nursery Care: Infants - Kindergarten
We have a staffed nursery for babies and children up to Kindergarten age. Parents are welcome to keep infants with them in the service.
